Apple Day 2013

Saturday the 17th October was the second, yearly celebration of Apple Day in the Christmas Steps Arts Quarter.

Bristol Cider Shop provided the apple rolling hilarity and SHOP provided silly games and food.

SUMMER CINEMA ON THE STEPS: Battleship Potemkin review in pics.

 The evening of Thursday 5th of September saw the return of the open-air cinema to the steps, as part of a programme of fringe events in the build up to the Encounters Film Festival and what a night it turned out to be!

.

Large numbers turned up to see Eisenstein's Battleship Potemkin and the assembled crowd were treated to an excellent live improvised soundtrack from local Bristol DJ Spin Thief (Adam Pinfold)

The event was a great success and much thanks go to Geneva Stop and SHOP for organising it on behalf of the Arts Quarter and to Bristol Cider Shop for providing the bar.

SUMMER CINEMA ON THE STEPS: Battleship Potemkin

Thursday 5th September

7pm onwards (film will start at nightfall) 

The Christmas Steps Arts Quarter, SHOP, Geneva Stop and Bristol Cider Shop have all teamed up to stage an Encounters Film Festival fringe event on the Christmas Steps!

The film will be soundtracked live by local Bristol DJ Adam Pinfold

There will be a bar provided by Bristol Cider Shop.

SUMMER CINEMA ON THE STEPS!

SHOP (Vintage Lounge and Arts Venue), based on the Christmas Steps and 20th Century Flicks Video Shop have arranged a summer film screening in the Christmas Steps Arts Quarter.

The screening will take place on the Christmas Steps themselves, as with previous events such as the Bristol Festival of Photography, as the Steps provide a natural amphitheatre perfect for such an event.

The bar will be provided by the 3 Sugar Loves and there will popcorn and food available from local micro-bakert, Tasty Mother's Tucker too.

The genius film choice has been selected by 20th Century Flicks and will commence at sundown (around 10pm).

Easter Artisan Market: PICS!

The Christmas Steps looked eggcellent on Saturday for the Easter Artisan Market!  The sun shone and there was the pitterpatter of feet up and down the Steps all afternoon.

Look out for more events on the Steps over the summer and for the next of our famous Christmas Artisan Markets in December.

EASTER ARTISAN MARKET on the CHRISTMAS STEPS!

On Saturday 30th March, from 11am – 4pm, the beautiful and intriguing Christmas Steps Arts Quarter, in keeping with its reputation for independent artisan traders, is hosting it's Easter Artisan Market on the unique Christmas Steps.

Come along for a lovely afternoon and experience the wonderful teetering charm of the artisans’ stalls cascading down the Steps, showcasing the high standard of beautiful crafts and wares – everything from cakes to taxidermy, original art works, handmade instruments and beautiful accessories, providing you with the perfect opportunity to pick up local, handmade and fully unique Easter gifts presents.

To celebrate Easter, there will also be an Easter egg hunt in and around the Christmas Steps and the artisans' stalls!  And if we can clear it with health and safety, some egg rolling too!

If that weren’t enough, there are many other artisan traders and businesses in this unique and beautiful site in Bristol’s city centre, as well as great places to eat and drink.

When was the last time you took a walk down a different street?  The Christmas Steps Arts Quarter consists of eight unique streets in Bristol's old city, lined with independent shops, art galleries, bars, cafes and more than a few surprises, where artisans and creative traders work side by side to keep this diverse corner of Bristol as unusual as it's been throughout its long and intriguing history.

Valentine's Heartisan Market: PICS!

Saturday 9th February saw the Christmas Steps Arts Quarter Valentine's Artisan Market win the hearts of Bristol!  

It was so charming, coupled with all the love in the air, it even managed to convince the rain to stay away for what seemed like the only five hours over the whole weekend it didn't precipitate!

We had some fantastic stalls gracing the beautiful Christmas Steps, delicious heart shaped goodies, preserves and cakes, taxidermy, flowers, jewellery, original art work ... but anyway, have a look for yourself below...

Next market will be for Easter on Saturday 30th March, with maybe a litte egg rolling competition...!
